How to protect your cells from viruses?

Next to getting vaccinated, wearing a mask, practicing social distancing, washing your hands throughout the day, cleaning and disinfecting, and regularly ventilating your home, what’s your best bet against viral illnesses? Supporting your immune system! How do you do that?

Nutrition

  • Nutritional deficiencies disarm your immune system. Give your immune cells the munitions they need: vegetables, fruits, whole grains, beans, and legumes.
  • Avoid sugar and processed foods. Every time you eat sugar or processed carbohydrates, you’re taking your immune cells out of the game for at least 5 hours.
  • Limit meat, dairy and fried foods. They’re inflammatory. It’s hard for immune cells to fight off viruses when there’s already a fire to attend.
  • Feed your microbiome with plant foods. Your gut microbes are more than willing to lend a hand to your immune cells if you give them the right fuel.

Physical activity

Keep your immune cells on the move by moving your body throughout the day. When you’re sedentary, your immune cells cannot patrol your body effectively.

Sleep

Give your immune cells time to regenerate. A sleep-deprived immune system cannot fight off the virus. Get at least 7 hours of sleep every single day.

Stress management

When you’re under stress, your nervous system thinks a lion is chasing you. It suppresses your immune system to focus on taking care of the lion first. This leaves a wide berth to viruses.
Practice deep breathing, meditation and/or yoga.

Clean environment

No need to keep your immune cells busy with toxic chemicals when you can avoid them. Get rid of plastic, fragrances, dryer sheets. Eat organic as much as possible. Take a close look at your personal care and home cleaning products.
Up your ability to detoxify by drinking plenty of water and eating plenty of fiber.

Useful supplements

  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin D
  • Zinc
  • Magnesium
  • DHA
  • Quercetin

Ask your physician for advice.

According to experts, coronaviruses are here to stay, and other viruses are coming. It’s time to put up a strong defence. Give your immune cells a fighting chance!
